Introduction

Using a web browser such as Microsoft Internet Explorer or Netscape Navigator, you can interact with the pharmacy to submit refill requests, check the status of prescriptions, view and print patient education sheets, print valuable pharmacy coupons, find out about store services, be kept informed of pharmacy specials, link to other pharmacy related sites, and email the pharmacy.
This help document is intended for the pharmacy customer. Its purpose is to introduce you to the Refill Rx system, and to provide step-by-step instructions on how to use the system.

Refill Rx
Pharmacy Web Site
When you initially enter the pharmacy's Refill Rx web site, you are presented with the site's home page. The site is divided into two primary areas - the Refill Rx pharmacy home page and the Refill Rx Online Pharmacy.
HOT SPOTS and LINKS
Located on the page are hot spots that link you to other areas of the pharmacy
site. These hot spots can be identified by your cursor's behavior when it
passes over one of them. On most browsers, the cursor will change from a
pointer to a small hand.
Additionally, a brief description will display in the status bar along the
bottom of the browser window that indicates the destination of the link.
There are three standard hot spots on a pharmacy home page. The hot spots are
located in the blue jump panel that fills the left margin. Each hot spot is
linked to a different location within the pharmacy web site. The hot spots
along with their destinations are listed below:
| Returns to the pharmacy home page | |
| Brings up this help system. | |
| Starts email session with the pharmacy |
When you click on one of the hotspots, your browser returns and displays a new page.
WEB SITE ORIENTATION
Most of the pages within the Refill Rx web site offer home or back buttons.
Some however, only allow you to return by using your browser's back button. This help page
is an example of the latter type. If you'll notice, there is a message at the bottom of
this page instructing you to use you browser's back button. The back button is also the
only means you will have to return to the Refill Rx web site from an outside link. For
instance, if your pharmacy's home page offers you a link to an outside site, then you
would only be able to return by pressing the back button on your browser. Pressing the
home button on an outside site's page will take you to that site's home page.
MAKING THE PHARMACY'S HOME PAGE A FAVORITE
As a convenience, it is recommended that you add the pharmacy's home page
to your browser's favorites list. This will make it easier for you to quickly find the
site. By adding it to your favorites, you'll be able to select if from a list and have the
site come right up. This is also useful for when you stray too far from home while
navigating or following links. MS Internet Explorer offers two ways to add a page to your
list of favorites. One is to press Ctrl-D on your keyboard while the page is displayed in
your browser. The other is to click on either the favorites menu choice or the favorites
tool bar button. Either way a dialog will appear that lets you add the page to your list
of favorites. Netscape Navigator offers the same two methods as Explorer, but refer to the
favorites as bookmarks.
2. Refill Rx Online Pharmacy
The Refill Rx Online Pharmacy is the area of the pharmacy
Web site where you interact with the pharmacy to submit refill requests and to view and
print prescription data. The entry point into the online pharmacy is located at the
bottom of the pharmacy's home page. Here you enter the Patient ID from your Refill Rx ID
card. Upon doing so, you will be taken to the home page of the Refill Rx Online
Pharmacy. The page has the typical Refill Rx layout. To the left is the jump panel and at
the top of this page is the pharmacy banner. The remainder of the page is the online
pharmacy. When the online pharmacy initially loads, a welcome message is displayed
directly below the pharmacy banner. This message displays a brief overview of the online
pharmacy plus current and upcoming information regarding the Refill Rx service.
Immediately below the welcome message is your Personal Rx Profile. This profile is a list
of all of the prescriptions under your name at the pharmacy. Think of the list as a
collection of record, with each record representing a prescription. A snapshot of the
actual entry point to the Refill Rx Online Pharmacy taken from the pharmacy's home page
is shown below. The edit box located to the right of Patient ID is where you enter the
Patient ID from your Refill Rx ID card. Upon pressing enter you are taken to the home page
of the Refill Rx Online Pharmacy.
It's easy to refill or status your prescriptions using Refill Rx MT
Simply type in your Patient ID
3. Refill Rx Personal Rx Profile
This is a list of your prescriptions. Using this list, you can submit refill requests,
view patient education leaflets, and check on the status of a request. Below is a sample
record from a Personal Rx Profile.

| Should be refilled now! |
The record contains a status icon, the name of the drug, the prescription number, when last filled, when next fill is due, prescriber name and phone number, pickup option, and a status message. The drug name is also a link to the patient education information for the drug. The prescription number is also a link, but to the online label instead. Both of these links are active in the sample above. To try them out click on them. Clicking on the drug name will bring up an education sheet for GANTANOL 500MG TABLET. Clicking on Rx 425049 will bring up the Refill Rx Online Label for prescription 425049. These prescription profile records work in conjunction with a set of buttons located at the end of the profile. These buttons along with the message box are shown below.

Refill Requests
You can submit requests for up to 10 refills at a time. The limit of 10 is set by the fact
that 10 is the maximum number of refills that will display on a single profile page. To
submit more than 10 or to submit prescriptions that are not listed on the current profile
page, you must first submit the ones that you have checked on the current page, and then
click the Continue Profile button. You CANNOT accumulate checked prescriptions. This means
that when you leave a profile page, the checkboxes that you selected are not remembered.
You can ONLY submit refills for the current profile page.
To submit refill request(s), you first check the box in each of the prescription records for which you would like to submit a refill request, and then click on the Refill button shown above. If you would like to submit a message the enter the text into the Message to the Pharmacist memo box. Only one message per refill request set. You cannot associate a message with a particular prescription. If you want to do this, then submit the prescriptions individually. The other two buttons allow you to retrieve the next 10 records or return to the pharmacy home page.
Prescription Statuses
When the screen refreshes, the status will change to reflect that the prescription
has been accepted for refill. All prescriptions are eligible for refill, irregardless of
their status. Some just require the doctor's approval or assistance. Most times the
pharmacist can take care of the contacting the doctor's. You can always check the status
of your request by simply bringing up or refreshing the profile. The profile records
always reflect the current status of requests.
Message to the Pharmacist
Located just below the profile is a box that allows you to send a message to the
pharmacist. The message applies to all refill requests. The only way to submit individual
messages, is to send the request one at a time. There is NO way to submit only a
message to the pharmacist. Messages are only delivered if at least one prescription has
been checked.
4. Refill Rx Control Panel
When the pharmacy is not online, the Personal Rx Profile will not display. This is
because your list of prescriptions must be retrieved directly from the pharmacy. No
prescription information is stored on the Refill Rx Web server. However, you can still
submit requests to the Web server using the the Refill Rx Control Panel shown below. The
control panel allows you to enter a prescription number and submit it to the Web server.
The Web server will queue the request at that time, and then later when the pharmacy comes
online, the server will submit the request.

The information comes directly from the prescription database of the pharmacy,
and should match the label on your bottle. The first line gives the last date that the
prescription was filled. The middle three fields show the name of the medication, the prescribing doctor, and the directions for taking the prescribed medication. The
last set of fields provide information for the prescription that is useful for determining
its refill status. Quantity Remaining shows how many units of
the medication remain on the original prescription. Refills
Remaining calculates the number of refills that would be available based on the
remaining quantity and the quantity normally issued each fill. Next
Refill shows the earliest date that the prescription can be refilled, which could
even be in the past. In which case the message changes tense. The last field, Expires On, gives the date after which the prescription is no
longer refillable.
6. Patient
Education Information
Refill Rx also displays and/or prints
patient education information containing the following detailed information
about a medication:
7. Refill Rx Reminder TM Service
The Refill Rx Reminder is a free service that
sends you a refill reminder message via e-mail at least 5 days prior to any upcoming
refill. You will receive a reminder notice a maximum of once every 5 days as long as there
are prescriptions due to be refilled. You will not be notified of refills that have
expired or that are presently scheduled for refill by Refill Rx.
Your e-mail address is considered highly confidential and will not be distributed! To sign
up for the service, simply fill in the email text box located at the end of your Personal
Rx Profile and click the Update EMAIL button. To cancel the service simply clear the email
address and click the Update EMAIL button.
8.
Refill Rx Prescription
Pad
TM
The Refill Rx Prescription Pad allows your doctor
to submit fills to the pharmacy. The pharmacy will provide your doctor with a special
Patient ID that allows the doctor to access the Online Pharmacy. However, instead of a
Personal Rx Profile, the doctor will gain access to the Refill Rx Prescription Pad shown
below. The Prescription Pad allows the doctor to submit a fill request to your pharmacy.
The doctor uses the Patient ID from your Refill Rx ID Card. This ensures that the
prescriptions are for you. It also allows the doctor to view your profile in cases where
your prescription history might be helpful or necessary.
