Refill Rx is a service of the Rx30 LifeLine Pharmacy Network that
provides participating pharmacies with a personal web site from which patients can use a
web browser to interact with the Rx30 Pharmacy Management System running at their store.
Using Refill Rx patients can:
- Submit refill requestsCheck the status of prescriptionsView and print patient education sheetsPrint valuable pharmacy couponsFind out about store servicesBe kept informed of pharmacy specialsLink to other pharmacy related sites
- Email the pharmacy
Each participating pharmacy has complete control over the content of their web
site. Refill Rx provides a secure
profile maintenance page that allows the pharmacy to make real-time changes to the web
site whenever they like. The Refill Rx
web site is located on the World Wide Web at www.refillrx.com. It is a product of TDS,
Inc. and is maintained by TDS personnel at their home office in Orlando.
How the Refil Rx System Works
Refill Rx uses the following four separate systems to create one distributed
Internet online pharmacy system:
- The Rx30 Pharmacy Management
System
The Rx30 LifeLine Pharmacy Network
The Refill Rx Web Site
- A personal web browser
The Refill Rx website and the Rx30 LifeLine Pharmacy Network combine to act as
Internet middleware that routes information to and from a pharmacy customer's web browser
and their pharmacy running the Rx30 Pharmacy Management System. Using a web browser, the
pharmacy customer goes to the RefillRx Website, which establishes a connection to the RefillRx
System is able to accept requests from pharmacy customers, route them directly to their
pharmacy for immediate processing, and then route the results back to the
customer.
Security
- Refill Rx does not send patient sensitive
information such as patient name, SSN, address, or phone number.Uses password protection. Access to the
pharmacy's web site is protected by a Pharmacy ID. Access to the Refill Rx Online Pharmacy
is controlled by a Patient ID. In order to access your store's home page, a user must know
the store's alias. The knowledge of a store's alias is controlled by the pharmacy. The
store alias does not provide access to any patient prescription data. This requires a
valid patient ID. Patient IDs are encrypted and are passed by hand from the pharmacist to
the patient.Access information is encrypted. This keeps
hackers from noting embedded page information and later using it to gain access to the
system.
- Pages contain timestamps that expire. This keeps
someone from using cached pages to gain access.
Minimum Requirements
- Pharmacy uses the Rx30 Pharmacy System, subscribes to LifeLine,
and is a member of Refill Rx System.Customer has access to the Internet. This is generally provided
through an Internet Service Provider (ISP) such as America Online (AOL), or a Local
Internet Access Provider.
- Customer has a web browser installed on their computer.
Examples of web browsers are - Microsoft Internet Explorer and Netscape. Windows 95 and NT
come with Internet Explorer, and many software products bundle Netscape.
